La Forge
The Ground Floor
The ground floor has a well appointed lounge with comfortable seating and for
those cooler Autumn and Winter evenings a log burning fire.
The kitchen area is where we will prepare your daily
meals but also where you can get coffee, tea and chocolate at any time that you
require them.
The conservatory has views over the patio and garden
and is also a wonderfully cosy place to sit and chat on a warm evening or whilst
you are waiting to depart on one of our photographic experiences. Up the stairs
is the breakfast / dining room where you will take your meals and evening
aperitifs. Out on to the veranda and you are presented with views of the
Livradois Forez national park and the mountain ranges of Sancy, Mont Dore and
the Cantal. On a clear day you can even see Puy de Dome. The veranda is also a
wonderful place to watch one of the spectacular summer lighting storms which
sometimes pass over the mountains during the hot summer months.
First Floor Accomodation
Up the stairs to the
first floor and the Loutre room with en-suite bathroom and the Herisson and
Ecureuil bedroom suites, all of which can be
configured for double or twin occupancy. These bedrooms overlook the garden and
in the early morning are warmed by the sun as it rises over the Marquis of
Echandelys forest. Views of the forest are at their most magical in spring and
early summer where the early risers will be greeted by views of the mists rising
slowly through the trees and the occasional haunting cries of the buzzards and
kites as they ride the early morning thermals.
Both the en-suite and shared bathroom on this floor are
equipped with showers toilets and wash basins. Both bathrooms have shaver
points and the shared bathroom has also got a bath.
Second Floor Accommodation
On ascending the
stairs to the second floor you enter the reading room, an area set aside for the
people looking for a little more peace and quiet. The stairs also lead to the
entrance of the other two En-suite rooms, the Cerf and the Mouflon bedroom suites. From
the Mouflon suite you have views across the whole village of Echandely with the
magnificent Church taking centre stage. The Village contains many beautiful and
interesting buildings, many inhabited by the same families for a number of
generations.
The Cerf suite has views out over the Livradois
Forez National Park and affords views of the mountain ranges of the Cantal and
Mont Dore. These come into their own on the summer evenings when as the sun sets
the sky changes from yellows and oranges through reds all the way to crimsons
and purples as it finally disappears behind the mountains altogether.
As with the other rooms the Mouflon and Cerf suites can
be configured for double or twin occupancy.
